Shane Rose badly injured in training fall – Still hope for Paris

After a brilliant weekend in New Zealand, securing his and Virgil’s Olympic qualification, Shane was literally brought back down to earth in a fall while cross country training.

In a statement released today it was said “Shane is currently in ICU with a badly broken femur and a fractured pelvis and ribs. He also suffered a heavy concussion. Shane had surgery this morning to stabilize the femur and pelvis.”

The horse he was riding at the time was not injured.

“Shane is in good hands with a great medical team and support network. While the timing is unfortunate we are hopeful there is adequate time for him to recover and still be able to continue his preparation schedule for the Paris Olympics Games.”

Let us keep our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery
