Laurie Lever wins World Cup Qualifier

Laurie Lever and Ashleigh Drossel Dan won the Equitana round of the World Cup qualifier on 22nd November in Melbourne. They had four faults in round 1 but Laurie and his big grey then jumped a clear round to take the title from Chris Chugg on Vivant, and Adam Mellers on Animate.

Results for the Pryde’s Easi Feed FEI World Cup Qualifier were

1 Ashleigh Drossel Dan - Laurie Lever
2 Vivant    - Chris Chugg
3 Animate    - Adam Mellers
4 Transatlantic   - Amy Graham
5 Stardom    - Billy Raymont
6 Vangelo Des Hazalles  - Jamie Winning
7 Koyuna Ted   - Becky Allen

The course was designed by John Valence and consisted of 13 obstacles with 16 jumping efforts for the first round. The second round was reduced to 9 jumping efforts with raised jumps. The jumps ranged up to 1.5 meters in height with a 1.7 meter spread.

The 80 by 80 meter arena was lashed by torrential rain and gale force winds earlier in the day, requiring sand bags to secure the jump wings. On the upside, the winds helped to dry out the arena enabling the event to proceed.
