As the major feature of the Adelaide Equestrian Festival, the Adelaide International CCI5* is a thrilling equestrian event that captures the essence of the Southern Hemisphere’s love for horses. It’s an event that has grown in popularity over the years, drawing in top equestrian athletes from all corners of the world. Held annually in Adelaide, South Australia, the Adelaide International CCI5* is the only 5-star event in the Asia Pacific region. This year it will be featuring the CCI5*, Horseland CIC4*S and Racing SA CCI3*L competitions, along with Guy McLean Horsemanship presentatiosn and Masterclasses.
The event comprises three phases: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. The dressage phase, this year sponsored by Pryde’s Easifeed, requires riders to display elegance and precision as they put their horses through a series of carefully choreographed movements. The cross-country phase sponsored by RB Sellars, on the other hand, is where the real excitement lies. Riders and their horses are put through a testing 6.4km course, which can feature over 40 jumps and natural obstacles. The course weaves through the beautiful Adelaide Parklands, and it takes a tremendous amount of skill, fitness, and courage to conquer it. The final phase is show jumping sponsored by ATCO, where riders and horses must navigate a series of obstacles set in an arena. This phase is all about speed and agility and can be the difference between victory and defeat.
The Adelaide International CCI5* has a rich history, with the event being held in various guises since 1997. Over the years, the event has drawn some of the world’s best equestrian athletes, including Olympic champions and World Cup winners.
